The series revisits the mid-2000s Showtime reality program Gigolos, which followed the lives of male gigolos in Las Vegas.

Akshaya Kubiak, known professionally as Ash Armand, gained recognition as a male escort and reality television personality on Showtime’s series Gigolos, which aired from 2011 to 2016. Originally from California, Kubiak pursued a career in the adult entertainment industry, leading to his involvement in the Las Vegas-based reality show that chronicled the lives of male escorts.
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, In July 2020, Kubiak was arrested following the death of 29-year-old Herleen Dulai at his Las Vegas residence. Dulai, who had moved to Las Vegas in 2017 with aspirations of pursuing a postgraduate degree, had transitioned into a career as a personal trainer and was active on social media platforms.
In July 2020, when both of them met, Kubiak made an emergency call to the responders, claiming Dulai had been unresponsive following the pair allegedly taking psychedelic mushrooms together. Dulai was found dead by the first responders, with the Clark County coroner’s office subsequently ruling her death a homicide caused by blunt force trauma and strangulation. Kubiak was then arrested and charged over her death.

In December 2021, Akshaya Kubiak, known as Ash Armand from the reality series Gigolos, was sentenced to 8 to 20 years in prison for the death of 29-year-old Herleen Dulai. Kubiak had pleaded guilty to felony counts of voluntary manslaughter and mayhem in September 2021. His defense attorney, Josh Tomsheck, stated that Kubiak accepted the plea deal to prevent a prolonged trial and spare Dulai’s family further emotional distress. Tomsheck also highlighted Kubiak’s consistent account of the events and his lack of prior criminal history, requesting a maximum imprisonment of four years
Prosecutor Giancarlo Pesci highlighted the extent of Dulai’s injuries, including bruises, a bruised tooth recovered from her stomach, and defensive wounds on both forearms, showing she had been awake during the assault. At sentencing, Kubiak said he had no recall of attacking Dulai, saying he “blacked out” after using drugs and claiming she had attacked him.
The family members of Dulai made emotional pleas, her brother Parambir Dulai included, who was shocked at the viciousness of her injuries. After hearing these pleas, the judge handed down the 8 to 20-year sentence. To date, Kubiak is serving his time at the Southern Desert Correctional Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
