Who is Robert O’Neill?

Robert O’Neill, born on April 10, 1976, in Butte, Montana, is a former United States Navy SEAL known for his involvement in high-profile military operations. His educational background includes graduating from Butte Central High School in 1994 and briefly attending Montana Technological University. In 1996, after a personal setback, O’Neill enlisted in the U.S. Navy, aiming to become a sniper. He completed the rigorous Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) training as part of class 208.

Throughout his 16-year military career, O’Neill served with distinction, participating in over 400 combat missions. He was a member of SEAL Team 2, SEAL Team 4, and the elite SEAL Team 6. His notable operations include the rescue of SEAL Marcus Luttrell in Afghanistan and the mission to save Captain Richard Phillips during the Maersk Alabama hijacking. For his bravery and service, O’Neill received numerous awards, including two Silver Stars and four Bronze Star Medals.

In 2012, Robert O’Neill retired from the Navy and transitioned to civilian life. He became a public speaker, sharing his experiences with various audiences, and contributed to television news programs. Additionally, he authored a memoir detailing his military service and the challenges he faced.

O’Neill has disputed these allegations and filed a lawsuit against the hotel and security guard involved, claiming defamation and negligence.

Despite these challenges, he maintains a public presence, engaging in speaking engagements and media appearances. O’Neill also holds a stake in the Armed Forces Brewing Company, a venture that has encountered some community opposition due to past remarks attributed to him.
