Truth or Consequences, in Sierra County, was a major filming location for Eddington, providing the special rural environment that added to the noir western feel of the film. The 200 and 300 blocks of Broadway, specifically the old BBQ on Broadway site, were converted into the Sevilla County Sheriff’s office, which was a principal set for main scenes. The town’s real southwestern architecture and desert landscape offered a stark setting for the strained community tensions of the story.

Shooting here also generated economic advantages, such as employment opportunities for residents and added business for restaurants and motels. The presence of the production pointed to the increasing popularity of Truth or Consequences as a location for filming, abetted by New Mexico’s rural film incentives, which have spurred more than $36 million of expenditure outside of the Albuquerque-Santa Fe corridor in the last few years.
