The Millwood Murders: Buried Truth is a suspenseful thriller filled with themes of justice, family, and secrets. Basically, the main character is prosecutor Shenae Griffiths, who is forced to give her testimony against her husband, believing him to be the Millwood Murderer who has killed two teenage girls, one of whom is her daughter Brooke’s best friend. She does give her testimony against her husband, and he is convicted of the death sentence.
Three years later, as her wife is about to be executed, Brooke discovers her father may be innocent: she goes missing. Shenae, therefore, has to live with the possibility that a serial killer is still at large while, at the same time, reinvestigating, dealing with harsh realities, and rescuing her daughter. The film is directed by David F. Mewa, while the writer is Al Kratina. This film is a Canadian production, and most scenes were shot in Hamilton, Ontario.
The film also premiered in the United States of America at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT 25th January 2026, on Lifetime. The film cast consists of LeToya Luckett as Shenae Griffiths, Shane Marriott as Shenae’s husband, named Leo Griffith, and Rainbow Sun Francks as Alexander Marston, who is actually responsible for Shenae’s killing.

In The Millwood Murders: Buried Truth, LeToya Luckett plays Shenae Griffiths, a tough prosecutor who, after sentencing her husband for murder, discovers incriminating evidence that causes her to question everything she thought she knew and ultimately takes drastic measures to protect her family from the real danger. Born on March 11, 1981, in Houston, Texas, Luckett began singing in her local church as a young girl and developed an early interest in music and performing.
She rose to fame in the late ’90s as an original member of the R&B group Destiny’s Child, whose chart-topping albums launched three top-ten singles and earned the group two Grammy Awards for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group. After retiring from the group in 2000, Luckett had a very successful solo musical career with her first solo musical release, LeToya, which peaked at number one on the Billboard 200 chart as well as earning a platinum certification.
Some of Luckett’s other musical releases include Lady Love and Back 2 Life. Luckett has also had a relatively good acting career, having appeared in several films like Preacher’s Kid, Killers, and Until We Meet Again. Some of her television roles include Greenleaf, Rosewood, and Power Book III: Raising Kanan
Her accolades include multiple chart-toppers in music and recognition for her diverse roles in dramas. Additionally, she is an entrepreneur in the fashion and philanthropy business endeavors. Shane Marriott as Leo Griffiths
Shane Marriott plays Leo Griffiths, Shenae’s husband in The Millwood Murders: Buried Truth, who is wrongfully convicted and sentenced to death for the Millwood murders, setting off the chain of events that endangers his family. Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, Marriott discovered his passion for acting at a young age through watching films and participating in school performances. He pursued formal training in theater during college before establishing himself in the industry.
His career began with smaller roles, building to notable appearances in television series such as Titans, Grand Army, Awake, In the Dark, Fargo, Reacher, and Children Ruin Everything. He shot to fame with the historic drama series The Porter in 2022, focusing on Black Canadian history in the railway industry during the 1920s, where he played Sticks.
Marriott has contributed to critically acclaimed shows and been featured in interviews for his authentic performances in period pieces. He leans on being firm with his feet on the ground and appreciates roles through which he gets to teach the audience about stories that are underrepresented. Future projects in the pipeline include a role in the horror series IT: Welcome to Derry, slated for release in 2025, and potential expansions in dramatic television.
Rainbow Sun Francks as Alexander Marston
As the character Alexander Marston, the actual Millwood Killer whose actions contribute to the central conflict in the story and put Shenae’s daughter in grave danger, Rainbow Sun Francks is the antagonist in The Millwood Murders: Buried Truth. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on December 3, 1979, Francks comes from a long line of professional actors. His father is Don Francks, and his mother is actress Lili Francks. Cree Summer is his sister. Francks is an actor in his own right and began working as a child actor at the age of four.
He also worked as a VJ at Much Music and produced the Johny film in 1999. Francks is best known for his role as Lt. Aiden Ford in Stargate Atlantis and his television work in High Fidelity, The Umbrella Academy, Schitt’s Creek, The Listener, My Husband’s Mistress, Goliath, My Favorite Christmas Melody, Trigger Point, and The Jane Mysteries: Murder at Moseby.
Some of his accomplishments include steady work in science fiction films and comedies. He has worked in the production department of films as well. He now continues to play diverse roles. There are no current upcomings apart from this particular film.
